15th FRENCH IMMERSION DAY!

Soutenue depuis sa création par l'Association américaine des professeurs de français, la Journée intensive en français (JIF) a eu lieu à l'Université de Chicago. Cette édition marquait à la fois la 15e année de l'événement et la 10e année de direction par Sylvie Goutas. C'était également la première année pour Gissele Drpich en tant que co-directrice, et la première pour Liz Martinez en tant que responsable du comité JIF-Chic du chapitre de l'Association américaine des professeurs de français de Chicago et du Nord de l'Illinois, impliquant un travail préparatoire exhaustif pour cet événement de sept heures en français

réunissant des participants de tous horizons. 

Quinze lycées et trois universités provenant de trois États du Midwest étaient représentés ! 

Merci infiniment au Chicago Language Center, au Département RLL, notamment à Alison James, au Film Studies Center, ainsi qu'aux bureaux des Études à l'étranger et des Admissions de l'Université de Chicago, et au Bureau du gouvernement du Québec à Chicago, brillamment représenté par Mme Jeanne Lamy Belzil. Nous exprimons également notre profonde gratitude à Eileen Walvoord, présidente nationale de l'AATF, et à Martha Haag Behlow, sa vice-présidente, pour leur participation. Alors que notre fondatrice et ancienne directrice, Pat Olderr, vient de nous quitter, notre organisation n'aurait pas pu rêver d'une meilleure synergie francophone. En route vers 2025, JIF-Chic ! 

Supported since its inception by the American Association of Teachers of French, the Intensive French Day (JIF) took place at the University of Chicago. This edition marked both the 15th year of the event and the 10th year of direction by Sylvie Goutas. It was also the first year for Gissele Drpich as co-director, and the first for Liz Martinez as head of the JIF-Chic committee for the Chicago and Northern Illinois chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French, involving exhaustive preparatory work for this seven-hour event in French, bringing together participants from all walks of life.

Fifteen high schools and three universities from three Midwest states were represented!

Infinite thanks to the Chicago Language Center, the Department of RLL, particularly Alison James, the Film Studies Center, as well as the Study Abroad and Admissions offices of the University of Chicago, and the Quebec Government Office in Chicago, brilliantly represented by Mrs. Jeanne Lamy Belzil. We also express our deepest gratitude to Eileen Walvoord, national president of the AATF, and Martha Haag Behlow, its vice president, for their participation. As our founder and former director, Pat Olderr, has just left us, our organization could not have dreamed of a better Francophone synergy. Onward to 2025, JIF-Chic!
