Your efforts WILL make a huge difference in the health of Grove Pond and the Nashua River Watershed!
WHAT: Help pull out invasive water chestnuts from Grove Pond.
HELP IS ESP. NEEDED ON THE SHORELINE to wheelbarrow our loads to the dumping location. Start time for shoreline person is 45 min after canoes get started.
DATES: Sign up for August and September dates below. Additional dates can be added for any group with FOUR OR MORE people! To arrange, contact LNehring100@gmail.com.
LOCATION: Meet at the Ayer Community Garden on Barnum Road.
BOATS: Pulling will be done from canoes and kayaks. Bring your own OR arrange to borrow one (see below).
- Paddlers should feel comfortable paddling in a shallow, mucky pond, and be willing to get dirty. You must wear a life jacket and bring drinking water. We recommend a sun hat and sunblock. Helpful to also bring: snacks, extra bungee cords and medium-sized, round laundry baskets (i.e. from the Dollar Store).
- All volunteers must sign a Liability Release form (see below, print and sign prior to arrival). Once completed, the form will be good for the entire season.
- All volunteers will be informed about MEC (Military Explosives) from former Ft. Devens. This is out of an abundance of caution, as requested by MassDevelopment and the Devens Fire Chief. PACE agrees it’s a good idea.

Nashua River Wild & Scenic Stewardship Council provided funding for this project. Nashoba Paddler of West Groton has kindly donated the use of canoes.
