Robots and Beyond: Exploring Artificial Intelligence at MIT

 

A multimedia excursion into the world of artificial intelligence (AI), Robots and Beyond opens the doors of MIT's AI Labs, where scientists have been probing the mysteries of artificial intelligence for five decades. Kismet is on display along with other robotic devices that have informed a new generation of scientists creating intelligent machines.

Architectures of Finance from the Great Depression to the Subprime Meltdown

An exhibition by designer Damon Rich and the Center for Urban Pedagogy, commissioned by the MIT Center for Advanced Visual Studies, exploring possible relationships between finance and buildings through an installation of models, videos, photographs, and drawings.

Wondering About Robots?

When it comes to robots, MIT is a hotbed of research, learning, experimenting and building. Throughout June, July and August the MIT Museum will feature a variety of workshops, tours, and demonstrations, about MIT robots like Kismet and the robotics toolkit based on MIT research Lego Mindstorms NXT. The Museum is looking for student groups ages 10 - 16 to participate in prototype workshops. Call 617-253-5927 for details and to register your group. Klein Side Scan Sonar:
A World Leader in Ocean Exploration
On view in the Mark Epstein Innovation Gallery

The MIT Museum’s nautical technology collections hold cutting edge ocean technologies used to explore earth’s final frontier. Now on display are three Klein side scan sonars donated recently by L3Com Klein Associates. The company was founded by Martin Klein – MIT Class of 1962.
