The Pathway is designed using the experience of those whose mental health is affected by trauma following abuse. The first phase deals with distress, gaining tools for emotional regulation. The second phase focusses on emotionally processing trauma and 'reclaiming their life' is the final phase.

Beneficiaries
Vida service users experience Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) associated with the experiences of abuse. They feel fearful and some express suicidal thoughts, even years down the line. This has a devastating impact on their mental health and ability to move on with their lives. They are vulnerable to repeat victimisation, triggering past experiences, with devastating impacts and may turn to negative coping strategies.
We will enable our service users to develop coping strategies through learning about the impacts of trauma on the brain. A focus will be self-care, managing the 'flashbacks' and triggers which are unique to each person. Reclaiming their lives follows once they are helped to free themselves of the fear, anxiety and depression they have experienced to build the resilience needed to move on. We will offer 1:1 support through various interventions designed to meet the individual's needs
