No question will be popped Sunday, on Kris Humphries' 26th birthday, despite local sports world chatter about the seriousness of the NBAer's romance with Kim Kardashian.

It's easy to be serious during those first months, when you're hot and heavy. Seriousness gets tested in the bad times, not the good times.

There's a reason this is sounding faintly wedding vowy. I was telling a source, in a position to know stuff, that I was not buying the idea that this Minnesota kid was headed anywhere near marriage to the L.A. reality show personality and businesswoman. Au contraire, I was told, as this source advised me not to be surprised if Humphries popped the question.

Of course, this source was not ready to speculate on the likelihood of Kardashian accepting. Some Minnesotans are still skeptical about her seriousness. She seems like a girl with as many options as there are pro athletes on a road trip, although while expressing shock at not yet being remarried in a People mag cover story, Kardashian said a husband and kids were her priorities.

But a second source, maybe even in a better position to know, told me no way. Humphries is reportedly having fun with Kardashian but not ready to settle down, even though the NBAer has reportedly met Kris and Bruce Jenner.

And I was told Humphries will never appear on any Kardashian reality show.

Right now, Kardashian and Humphries are enjoying maintaining each other's interests when they are both not busy with their careers... and other options.

Humphries has an eye for beautiful women. Next time People magazine gets him on the horn, ask about his brief fling with Selita Ebanks, the Victoria Secret model who was Nick Cannon's fiancée for 30 or so minutes.

Bottom line: Reggie Bush need not start making moves like he wants to reclaim Kardashian before she gets otherwise permanently engaged (although Humphries is reportedly convinced she's really over the NFLer).

Prince and Bobby Z

Prince has been among those calling to wish his "Revolution" drummer Bobby Z well in his recovery from a heart attack.

Nick and Eric...

Nick Swardson may be hard for Fox TV cameras to miss at the Super Bowl. "Nick will be at the Super Bowl with [Adam] Sandler, Jen [Aniston] and others [from their movie 'Just Go With It'], likely rooting for his bud Eric Rogers," Nick's sister Rachel Swardson told me.

Eric Rogers, Aaron Rodgers, it's all the same to Rachel, who's as funny as her brother, and she's not even trying. The Packers QB and the comedian and actor had dinner together in November when Nick had a performance in Minneapolis that coincided with a Packers trip here to put a 31-3 whuppin' on the Vikings. (See the video at www.startribune.com/video.)

Like Nick, I'll be pulling for Rodgers and the Packers, though I expect the Steelers to win. Sassy-mouthed Steelers coach Mike Tomlin seems like a man of some character and is a terrific coach, but I'm not cheering on a QB who got away with what any thinking person knows happened in that Milledgeville, Ga., bar restroom.

Zimmern lives dangerously

"Bizarre Foods" host Andrew Zimmern stooped to a mother-in-law joke on TMZ.

What is the worst or strangest thing he's ever eaten? he was asked. "Pork roast at my mother-in-law's two Christmases ago," Zimmern told TMZ. Merry Christmas to you, too.

I sent this e-mail to Zimmern on Friday: Would you please ask your mother-in-law to call me asap?

Since I haven't heard back, I telephoned former Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Natalie Haas Steffen to see if she knew the mother of Rishia Haas Zimmern, Andrew's wife.

"Oh sure, eats everything from snails to testicles?" said the commish when asked if she knew who Andrew was. "She should be out with a shotgun, although I've never tasted her food," laughed the commish, who doesn't know Rishia.

Madieu gooder

The most philanthropic Viking, Madieu Williams, is in Iraq with a USO tour, so the Sierra Leone native who gave $2 million of his own money to create the Madieu Williams Center for Global Health Initiatives at the University of Maryland won't be on hand if he wins NFL Man of the Year. The award will be announced just before the Super Bowl.
