My Dad was irreverent, caring, quick witted and extremely funny. A maths teacher in Sheerness for many years, he used these characteristics with great effect to get the most out of his pupils, with a soft spot for those who were finding mainstream comprehensive life difficult.

Donations will go to a new education centre that has just set up in Bury Port for similar pupils who need a different approch with care, understanding, love and humour. Myself and Anne feel that Dad would think it a fitting place to benefit from donations instead of flowers.

Carmarthenshire Secondary Teaching and Learning Centre supports young people who are not currently educated in a mainstream school.

”We believe that all our pupils, regardless of their circumstances and backgrounds, are entitled to individualised learning programmes which meet their needs and maximise their potential and opportunities for success. We are working towards the social inclusion of all our pupils, where they can take their places as responsible members of society”

As a new setting that has just opened in an old school building, and with money within education being very tight at the moment, the staff are making do with left over equipment and resources they are cobbling together for the pupils. This fundraising will be the first donation for the school, and we hope that it will get them off to a good start 😊
