Plenty of photo's please for all of us who are unable to attend!!

Actually, I for one would love to see some photo's of the exhibits (as well as of the merry-making boarders) if that is possible?

Cheers,

Exhibit photo's are easy, it's focusing the camera (and the people) when you are two sheets to the wind at a stampboards's dinner that's difficult

Didge phoned me just now to say he regrettably can't make it to ADL due to urgent commitments that have sprung up.

His computer has also decided to blow up at the same time, so he asked me to make his apologies for him.

The list now stands at the following .. and we will see you all Friday night!

We will not have computer access from tomorrow early am most likely.

On a serious note .. to those planning to walk any distance to or from the restaurant .. don't.

I was told that area has had a fair bit of trouble in recent weeks, with a shooting and stabbings etc.

You'd have to be unlucky, but walking when a cab will cost a few bucks might be wise until it settles.

Just back from Adelaide.

Had a great time, day trip to Mt. Lofty, Hahndorf, then the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley (famous wine country  ).

Next day a trip to the beach at Glenelg then the Stampboards dinner Friday night with the Stampboards meeting Saturday afternoon.

Saturday night was the official Stampex 2008 dinner where the Lakatoi family picked up Topaz, Sapphire and Emerald awards (I'm not going to admit who won the biggest awards  ) The young Lakatoi even won a surprise special APTA award 8).

A great night and my compliments to the organising committee, the judges and the volunteers for making Stampex 2008 an event to remember :!:

P.S. I'll post some pic's in the next couple of days.

That was a great watering hole except everyone around us was a generation younger than us

The beer was cold as all can see. [ Cooper's Pale Ale - the only good thing that South Australia has for export]

Was great to meet up with everyone Saturday and say hi in person.

My last Stampex was in '86! and being a teen at the time can't say I remember all of it , but had more fun looking through this time. . . and did a little more spending

Thanks Glen for organising all the catch ups

New type Epos counter printed label at Stampex

Post by xcropper »

The new type counter printed label at Stampex was issued with the literal "Stamp Expo".

My first attempt at putting a photo on Stampboards, so hope it works. Thanks to Glen for help at Stampex.

Stampex label

Post by xcropper »

Not a typo; "Stamp Expo" was used where the Post Office name would normally be. Similar usages have also been made on the old type label for Stamp shows.
