Wellcome Early-Career Awards

This scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Through innovative projects, they will deliver shifts in understanding related to human life, health and wellbeing. By the end of the award, they will be ready to lead their own independent research programme. 

Funding for projects that robustly test the real-world effectiveness and assess implementation strategies of scalable transformative early interventions for anxiety, depression and psychosis in young people.

We're funding the development of new advanced bioimaging tools and technologies. Researchers who use bioimaging and technology developers will work together to create the bioimaging resources we need to answer ambitious research questions.

This award will fund projects to advance our understanding of how heat impacts anxiety, depression and psychosis in the most impacted groups globally through biological, psychological and/or social mechanisms.

Biology of fungal adaptation

This award will support studies that explore the mechanisms and triggers for fungal adaptation, particularly in environments that are associated with disease and/or impacted by climate change. 

This funding call will generate a body of evidence on the health effects of climate change mitigation interventions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

This call will provide funding for validation activities for novel targets with a clear therapeutic concept and strong biological rationale related to early intervention in anxiety, depression and/or psychosis.

The aim of this scheme is to make the impacts of climate change on physical and mental health visible to drive urgent climate policy action at scale.

Eligibility and guidance information for our funding call on using longitudinal data for mental health research. We are funding experts to draw on the potential of longitudinal data to drive innovation in early identification of anxiety, depression and/or psychosis. Successful teams will integrate advanced analytics of longitudinal data with experimental research to enable more precise and effective early interventions.

This programme will fund fundamental research on using generative AI to improve the measurement or treatment of anxiety, depression and psychosis.
