.....has officially ended as of yesterday. I received my (nice) check in
the mail, and shipped it off yesterday. It was somewhat of a difficult
decision, but financial reasons were the biggest factor. Financial reasons
were not the only factor, but I knew if I was going to sell it, I should do
it while the value is still high enough. So I couldn't pass up the
financial gain I would achieve. I have debts (including paying back college
loans), and I figured this would be quick cash. Along with my tax return
check. I haven't played it in over a month, and I really didn't have any
intentions on playing it anytime soon. The last game I bought was NBA
Inside Drive. I may purchase one again somewhere down the road, but for
now, just my PC. Another big factor was the future releases. None of them
besides Enclave and a few others really grabbed my attention. I know there
will be some great games coming. But I made the mistake of not selling my
Dreamcast soon enough. I am not saying this will happen with Xbox, because
I am still a fan of it. But with my financial situation, I couldn't take
that risk. Anyways, I will still keep up on the news, and post in here once
in a while. Anyone that is going to flame this post, or that doesn't like
me.......I DON'T GIVE A SHIT! To all the realistic and cool people out
there.......PEACE!!!

If your net income is consumed by your necessary and reasonable expenses you
qualify for chapter 7 bankruptcy. In most places in the country, ordinary
household possessions used by the debtor are exempt from liquidation. It's too
late for you, but I suggest that anyone else that would be inclined to sell
their xbox for a "financial gain" should keep their xbox and consult a local
bankruptcy attorney. HTH

Thoth, I am not that deep in debt to file for bankruptcy. But even if I
did, wouldn't my credit be trashed for 7 years or something like that?? I
am not familiar with chapter 7. Fill me in. Later.

Mike, I will be in here to read up on things, and maybe put some responses.
Anyways, just worry about yourself and not me. Why is it a mistake?? I am
now able to get out of debt rather than not play my Xbox. Because that is
exactly what I was doing. Not playing it. I actually have a life, and I
didn't find much time to play it. I am not a game addict like most of you.
And when I did have time, I didn't even want to play it. Let's face it, I
loved the Xbox, but the games are lackluster to say the least. There was
Halo, then there are games that you could finish in a day. And the others
were just plain crap (i.e. Gemna Ominusha sp?). And just because sales in
Australia jumped 40%, that means I should run out and buy another one???
HAHAHAHAHAHA. What a moron. Sorry, but I don't have to buy something just
because others are buying it. Also looks like every game being made is
available for my PC anyways. And if not that, it's available for the other
systems (i.e. PS2, etc...). I might buy one used in the future, but for now
I am fine. Thanx for the concern. Out.

I'd suggest taking out a lower rate personal loan to pay off any credit card
debt. And then cut up the cards and be disiplined enough never to use them
again.

As for selling the Xbox (or any other system for that matter) I always felt
it's better just to keep the system. I mean it's already paid for, why bail
on it now? Besides if I assume correctly you probably used your credit card
to purchase it (I could be wrong of course), so selling it at a loss to just
put that money back onto your credit card doesn't seem too wise in
hindsight.

Plus you know you'll want a new system soon enough, so then what do you do?
Buy a complete new system for a second time? Ouch. Mr Gates might like
that, but I don't think you're checkbook will. *lol*

In any event, take care and good luck.

Good credit is something that is established over time. Bankruptcy is a fresh
start. After a bankruptcy is over you can rebilid credit by doing a few simple
things: Get a secured credit card (the kind you make a deposit and the creditor
gives you equal or slightly greater credit). Use credit wisely, making sure to
pay each month's balance off when you receive the statement. Never pay late.
Do these things and your credit rating will be quite good in two or three years,
despite the fact that the bankruptcy may show up on your credit report for up to
10 years. Student loans are not discharged in bankruptcy absent a strong
showing by the debtor that repayment would cause an undue hardship. The
nondiscargeability of student loans is complicated by the fact that there are
income contingent repayment plans available that may bring payments down to
minimal levels. DOE may be able to provide info. I happen to have their
number: 800-557-7392 Bankruptcy attorneys often provide a free initial
consultation. HTH

Well, actually an MSCE is pretty much showing you know how to use windows,
not that difficult but if the certificate makes you feel better than no harm
done. As for the Cisco, that's great. Probably a CCNA? Dime a dozen in
this economy. Since I am the guy who hires people like you, let me tell you
that throwing around paper like the Scarecrow doesn't impress people any

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!.....Ok let me stop laughing first. Ok
first let me say that I agree with Thoth and Tim Delaney. Good looking out
gentlemen. LostSole, do you have ANY idea in this God forsaken earth what a
B.A. even stands for??? Just incase you don't know, it's a Bachelor of Arts
degree. I have mine in advertising. It takes 4 full time years to
complete, and it is one step below a Masters. You are telling me that you
have certificates in a field that everybody and their brother who watches
Jenny Jones and Jerry Springer can get?? HAHAHA!!! If you watch those
shows, you see about 20 commercials advertising this crap. Shit I don't
need a certificate to show how much I know about Windows. You try to make
it sound all high and mighty. LOL. So did you go to the "Jerry Springer"
infamous Devry, or Microskills?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! A certificate, or a
Bachelor's degree??? Hmmmmmmmm, let me think. LOL. What a moron. I
actually came across a website earlier saying that you can get certified in
2 weeks. LOLOL!! Even if that is bogus information, you must be proud of
yourself! You can actually operate and troubleshoot Windows!!! Congrats!!
So now maybe you can actually get that dreamjob of being a tech support
agent on the phone!! So maybe you might make a penny more than me now. But
I just got my degree a couple months ago. When all said and done, I
GUARANTEE you won't be making more than me. And I could of afforded to keep
my Xbox if I wanted to. I just made a smart financial decision. I wasn't
playing it, and selling it would get me out of debt. And also I sold while
the value was still high enough. And to boot, I got way more than I thought
I would have. It's a no brainer for people that actually have brains. But
all in all, I am glad to see you hold certificates with every other low life
in the world who can't withstand a REAL college career. I am sure those
certificates will land you a job over somebody with a Bachelor's degree.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Those certificates are as common as one dollar bills in a
strip joint. LOL. Good luck bud. Only a person with a certificate
education would respond with such ignorance. Thanx for setting yourself up
though. Out!

Big fuckin' deal. You act like you're the only one in
the world who has ever gotten a degree. (Actually, you
act like a 4-year old, but that's another matter.)

Good luck in the job scene if you decide to be as moronic

I found this discussion to be very entertaining.

FIRST: John, I'd start acting a little less high and mighty about your
education. You should be proud to be a college graduate. You have some
great potential built into that degree. But it is only potential until
fulfilled. I have a B.A. with a triple major in English, Theology, and
Philosophy (the Jeopardy preparation degree). One of my brothers has a
degree in English, and has won the pulitzer prize for investigative
journalisim. Both of us have degrees from prestigious schools. While both
of us do fairly well, the millionare in the family is my brother that went
to a state school, and barely managed to pass after five years of hard work,
not to mention the struggle he had in high school. B.A. has less value than
the piece of paper it is printed on if you do not back it up in the
marketplace. Just as Lostsole's certifications can mean alot if he works
hard and gets in the right niche in the job market.

SECOND: You sound a little cocky. That's good in interviews, but I
encourage you not to go into the childish rant on the job that you went into
here. You posted a rather pointless thread. It was not a bash, it was not
particularly informative or interesting (until everyone else jumped in), so
you have to expect some responses such as you received. You wrote it to
provoke a response. If not, then you need to go back and add some Psych
courses to your advertising degree or you will not last long.

I have one of those brothers too, funny. He was pounding nails
building houses right out of high school while I was busy going to
College. He now builds Condo developments, and commercial buildings,
and pays more per month to his employees and contractors than I make
in five years, (and I'm not poor).

wrestleantares, you have to understand why I responded the way I did. He
said something like "Oooh a B.A., I'm scared.." And then he said he has
some certificates. I ranted a little bit because of that. He was trying to
make a B.A. look like nothing compared to a certificate from Microsoft. I
understand a B.A. is the best thing in the world, but it's sure held higher
than some certificate. You should know that. That is why I was ranting.
Anyways I was in that mood. Just wanted a laugh. Also, I am not cocky, and
don't act high and mighty. I understand millions of other people in this
world share the same degree that I have. But you are damn right I am going
to be proud of it. I travelled long and far for that degree. It wasn't
just handed to me. But at the same time I don't act all big about it. It
is what it is. Like you said, it's a piece of paper until you do something
with it.

I am in the process of doing something with it right now. I am working, but
haven't landed the job in my field that I want yet. And I am far from a
boaster, or cocky. I am actually very down to earth. I have always held
myself no higher than anybody else. Trust me I have been struggling to find
a job in my field. So cocky is the furthest extreme from what I really am.
But I guess you don't know me, so you wouldn't know. It's all good though.
You seem intelligent enough to understand and believe me. Also
wrestleantares, what is your opinion of employment agencies?? Are they any
good? I am looking for a job in the advertising/marketing field. I am
getting close, but I was thinking about giving an agency a crack. Anyways,
I only hold my degree as high as my effort I put into it. I am glad I got
it, and I will do my best to make it work to my advantage. Peace out!

Well, actually a B.A. really isn't much of anything. It is a passport that
those of us who have one enjoy. Really, it does not mean shit. In fact,
many large employers in the country have come to this realization. Why pay
more for someone who went to school for 4 years and doesn't know anything
compared to those who worked and know what is going on (formerly called the
forgotten half). All a B.A. shows is that you were able to attend classes.
You probably have never read Common Sense and Forward Thinking for the
American Workplace (not being a snob, most have never heard of it as it was
just a draft distributed on the internet. Some believe it was based on
American Express). The term Educated Moron was coined.

When I hire people, the B.A. does not mean a thing. Well, it does if the
position is entry level and the basic knowledge could help.

Hope all goes well for you, but I have a B.S. in Computer Science, and I
really try hard not to respond to many people in this newsgroup, especially
when they start to talk about programming or computer hardware related
