Primary Purpose

We are seeking to establish a pool of qualified applicants for Part Time Music Instructor for term by term teaching assignments.

Description of Essential Functions

1.   Teaches course information to students in groups and individually using instructional methodology appropriate to the audience and to the subject (e.g. lecture, demonstration, group discussion, online, technology enhanced delivery, computers) and practicums at various times and sites in the college district. Identifies learning sites that allow students to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes in a workplace setting.  Must be able to design and deliver supplemental teaching materials in a variety of ways to meet the needs of a broad range of learning abilities. 

2.   Works effectively using English written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills to meet all faculty requirements including but not limited to: Creating course syllabi, evaluating student progress, and grading according to college policy and procedure.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Education Requirements:

Master's Degree required for teaching transfer level courses in content or related field with a minimum of 24 graduate credit hours in the content area (LDT)

Bachelors Degree/AAS in content area or related field plus three years teaching experience (CTE)


Preferences:
  1.  Preference given to applicants with related teaching experience preferably at the college level or the equivalent. Preference given to applicants with demonstrated ability to address a variety of learning styles and success in adult instruction.
  2. Preference given to applicants with related industry experience.
  3. Preference given to applicants with related industry certifications.
  4. Other Preferences: (a) Demonstrated ability to work independently and professionally in areas of instruction, course and curriculum development, (b) demonstrated ability to work with students with a wide range of ages, backgrounds and academic preparedness, and (c) demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Mastery of the subject area at a sufficient level to instruct students in the knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for success in the courses in the curriculum. Ability to evaluate student programs both empirically and holistically and to prescribe and develop curriculum materials for individuals and classes.
  2. Knowledge of or ability to learn teaching methods to instruct students of a variety of ages, backgrounds and learning abilities. Ability to adapt to various audiences, to find various explanations and to facilitate various learning styles.
  3. Ability to work with and cooperate with college faculty and staff at all levels, as a team member with the Vice President of Instruction, other faculty, staff, and related industry/businesses in developing course content, objectives, standards, program curriculum, grading, assessment and instructional methods.
  4. The ability to communicate effectively in writing using the English language with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
  5. A level of computer literacy sufficient to use software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases to produce correspondence, document, and reports as required by the position and the ability to access student information for the purpose of advising and keeping student records.
  6. Willingness to travel and/or teach at various hours as required.
