‘Voices of Victims of Hate Crime’ Round Table
Thursday 12th September 2019
Day time Roundtable: 11.30 – 2.30 pm
Evening Roundtable: 6–9 pm
Venue: The Future Inn, Cabot Circus Bond St, Bristol BS1 3EN
Have you been a victim of hate crime or discrimination in the past 2 years? This includes age-based abuse, bi-phobia, disabilist abuse, faith-based abuse (including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia), homophobia, misogyny, racism and transphobia.
Or are you an agency leader/ decision maker that want to hear those with 'lived experience' so you can improve your response and practice for victims of hate crime?
We are running a Roundtable where people with ‘lived experience’ of hate crime can share their experiences, concerns and ideas on how to improve the City’s response to hate crime with senior officers and decision makers from Avon & Somerset Constabulary, Bristol City Council, the CPS, NHS Trusts, the Clinical Commissioning Group, Housing Associations, Education and other key providers.
Table Themes will include:
1. Hate Crime/ discrimination – ASB, Crime and Housing (for when incidents occur around the home or in a public place)
2. Hate Crime/ discrimination – Education (for when incidents occur in school, college or university)
3. Hate Crime/ discrimination – Traders, Employment and Public Transport (for when incidents occur in work or on public transport
4. Hate Crime/ discrimination - faced by People with learning disabilities, autism or Asperger’s and neuro-diversity.
We are looking for 15 people with 'lived experience' for our day time Roundtable and 15 people 'with lived experience' for our evening round table who would like to share their experiences, concerns and ideas to help shape future response to hate crime so you can book onto the best time for you.
We will also be inviting decision makers/ policy makers from key agencies that have a duty to tackle/ respond to hate crime and discrimination.
