LIGHTHOUSE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: Ages 10-12
(or rising 5th-7th grade)
To be completed by the camper
The Lighthouse program is an optional leadership program for rising 5th through 7th graders. Campers can apply for this program, or choose to stay in the Fleet and be assigned to the Fleet as a Senior Sailor. Being part of Lighthouse at Camp Beagle is a truly awesome and challenging leadership experience. Getting into the Lighthouse is a privilege and not everyone who applies will be accepted. We need people who are not only eager to learn, but also excited and dedicated to sharing to help others learn and grow.
Joining Lighthouse means you are choosing to be a light for all the younger campers to see. If accepted into Lighthouse, you will be asked to not only embrace the characteristics of a lifelong learner but also step into the role of a community leader to share your knowledge and skills with others.
The children who are in the Fleet go from harbor to harbor asking questions, exploring the awe and wonder of nature, and developing a sense of responsibility to care for and create justice in the world. Those accepted into the Lighthouse will be asked to explore these same things, but instead of going to harbors created by the adults you will be the creators and facilitators of the learning experiences. You will be creating your own mini "harbor" experiences for others in your Lighthouse cohort.
If parents would like assistance determining whether their child would prefer the Fleet or the Lighthouse program, please contact us at uucampbeagle@gmail.com.
I agree to participate in this program to the best of my ability.
