About this event

IMPORTANT UPDATE: THE BUS TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN CANCELLED BUT THE RECEPTION ITSELF WILL STILL TAKE PLACE.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022 the Chelsea community is invited to Boston College for a special reception at the school's McMullen Museum.

Arnie Jarmak: Photographing Chelsea in Transition, 1977–89 is an exhibit of black-and-white photographs Arnie produced as chief photographer for the city’s daily newspaper, the Chelsea Record, while living there in the late 1970s through the 1980s.

All are invited. Enjoy a special celebratory reception. Meet the photographer and others who recall these memorable days of Chelsea's past. Docents from the museum will lead tours through the exhibit putting the work into the larger context of art and social history. A second gallery within the museum is an engaging showcase of the history of alternative comics.

Outside the museum, current students of Boston College will lead tours of the campus and answer questions for those curious about attending the school.

The bus leaves from the Williams School at noon on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

The bus will return to Chelsea at approximately 4:45.

Tickets on the bus are free. Deadline to register is Saturday, September 24.

The bus is provided through the City of Chelsea's Recreation and Cultural Affairs Division.
