Employment to “Certain” H4 Visa Holders

An H-1B visa holder is a high-skilled worker with degrees in Science and Technology and their spouses and children under age of 21 are awarded H-4 visas (dependent visa) to enter and live in USA.

A tragic fact of H-4 visa holder is that they are not allowed to work.

It is important to give Employment Authorization to “certain” H-4 visa holders because:

75% of H-4 visa holders are women and mostly they are equally or more educated than their H-1B husbands.

They are not allowed to work and are forced to wait until Green Cards are issued to them but average time for getting Green Card for people with Indian Nationality is around 10 years.

10 years is a long wait and after 10 years of unemployment career of those women is pretty much ruined.

After all, these people are “dreamers” too and they have worked hard their life to earn those science and maths degrees and qualifications. Now, after marrying an H-1B person, who worked in America for 6+ years but still waiting for Green Card because of huge backlogs, they become part of the community and deserve to earn a respectful wage

Moreover, so that we know, L-1 visa dependents that arrive here on L-2 visas do get work authorization immediately.

I request honorable President and leadership of United States to please process regulation 1615-AB92 (http://tinyurl.com/eadToH4) which is pending from 2011.
