Walking School Bus
A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a group of children who walk to school together under the supervision of a Walking School Bus "Driver” (adult volunteer). The Dunellen Mayor’s Traffic & Pedestrian Safety Task Force is working with our community to create the Dunellen Walking School Bus program. Kickoff is planned for late September early October. We hope you will join us in this exciting adventure!

In order to get started, we first need to find out which Faber families are interested in participating, so PLEASE complete the survey below by September 29th. Remember, your child can be “on a bus” even if you cannot be a WSB driver.

Notes
• The WSB program is scheduled to start late September/early October.
• All parent volunteers (the WSB Team) will attend an orientation mid-September (date TBA), so that we all, etc. This will be an opportunity to meet everyone, understand how the Project will work, who is responsible for what, and have your questions answered.
• The WSB Team will decide, as a group, when to operate - every morning or afternoon to start, or less often - for example, only in the mornings on certain days.
• Ideally, there will be at least two parents assigned to each route, with approximately 10 children per route, for each morning/afternoon the Walking School Bus operates. “Substitute drivers” will be assigned as needed.
• Each participating child and parent will receive a WSB T-shirt.  Mondays and/or Fridays are Walking School Bus T-shirt Days – we will choose which day our WSB Team will all wear t-shirts, or do both!
• Two reflective safety vests and stop signs will be provided for each WSB, to be utilized by the WSB adult drivers.
• Walking School Bus safety training and information will be provided to all WSB Team members before the kickoff.
