Fair Housing Workshop Registration
Fair Housing Workshop for Refugee and Immigrant Service Providers
9-11am Thursday, Oct. 25
Pickering Room, Fletcher Free Library, Burlington

This free workshop will cover the basics of federal and Vermont fair housing law and how you can support your clients. We will cover protected classes, exemptions, reasonable accommodations, how to file a housing discrimination complaint, the investigation process, and remedies and penalties. This interactive workshop is designed for refugee and immigrant service providers and open to everyone. There will be plenty of time for discussion and resources to share with your colleagues and clients. Presented by the CVOEO Fair Housing Project and Vermont Legal Aid’s Housing Discrimination Law Project in partnership with the Refugee & Immigrant Service Providers Network (RISPNet) and the Fletcher Free Library.

In preparation for the workshop, please let us know if you plan to attend and take a few minutes to complete this survey so that we can best match the content to your needs.

* We would appreciate your feedback by Oct. 19 at the latest. * Please note that the library is officially closed until 10am and we will have a volunteer at the door to let in workshop attendees. Please plan to arrive between 8:50 and 9am. *

What fair housing-related situations or issues have come to your attention in your work?
Federal Fair Housing Law states that it is illegal to discriminate in the rental, sale or financing of housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, family status, or disability. Vermont fair housing law covers all the categories in federal law, plus age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, receipt of public assistance, and the denial of development permitting based on income of prospective residents. Which of these protected classes are MOST applicable to the populations you serve?
Which (if any) of the following would be helpful for you?
