This year’s Institute of Physics teachers Conference takes place in the new Analog Devices Building, University of Limerick It will be a day of lectures, demonstrations, and workshops, resources and networking for all teachers of physics including Junior Science Teachers.

  • To inform teachers of the exciting and innovative work at the Frontiers of Physics
  • To provide teachers with examples of simple and inexpensive physics demonstrations
  • To inform teachers of the latest developments and resources available in physics teaching
  • To provide an opportunity for teachers to exchange ideas and network

Programme includes:

  • Dr Andrea Bourke, (UL) “Electricity System Balance - The Physics of Electricity Networks”
  • Dr Barry Fitzgerald, (UL) “Secrets of Superhero Science”
  • Prof Paul Conway, (UL) “Good Science Teacher Quest(ions)
  •  Dr Rogério Martins (New University of Lisbon)  “My bike is Physics Expert!”

Workshop Sessions:

  • "Argumentation in Physics Teaching How do we know what we know" - Dr Gráinne Walshe and Dr Regina Kelly (UL)
  • "Dynamics with a Smart Phone"- Dr Vincent Casey (UL)
  •  Science on Stage, Irish 2017 Team
  • Tour of Physics labs 

Registration fee €30 and includes lunch
Reduced fee for student teachers €20

There will be an optional dinner for delegates on Friday 22 September. If attending, delegates can pay for the dinner directly to the restaurant on the evening.
