Another great Eco-Action Workshop from the River Center!  Girls will earn their Home Scientist Brownie badge or Zinni’s Daisy Petal. This workshop creates considerate and caring River Center Scientists. Girls will  learn about water chemistry, electrical currents, and dive into density! Girls will understand how scientists in our community and around the world help our environment, keep our water clean, and protect animals. This workshop will engage girls to become interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as to become considerate and caring citizens. 

Registration Deadline

 Saturday,  March 17, 2016

  •  Saturday, April 1st from 8:30am-12:30pm; check-in starts at 8:30am
  •  Space is limited - 60 girl participants
  •  Scouts will receive an event t-shirt and skill patch.
  • Please have chaperones per group according to GSSEF Field Trip Chaperone Guidelines
  • Each Girl Scout participating must have SWE/River Center Image Photo Release Form
  • The price for this event is $8.00 per girl. 

Session 1 – Bubbles Up ~ Chiki Hut (A)

  • Make something bubble up
    • Soda geysers
    • Play with science – giant bubbles

Session 2 – The Static Electric Garden ~ Amphitheater (B)

  • Create static electricity
    • Follow the balloon leader
    • Make pepper dance
  • Become a naturalist
    • Explore the garden

Session 3 – Become a River Center Scientist ~ River Center Classroom (C)

  • Dive into density
    • Importance of water
    • Does it float or sink?
  • Can You See It?
    • Getting into the laboratory
    • All the small things: using microscopes

Session 4 – Friendship Circle ~ Chiki Hut (D)

  • Zinni’s story
  • Kind and considerate Girl Scouts
  • Girl scientists of the future
