Zombies spill into suburban backyards. Ravenous shape-shifters stalk the farmlands. A smiling mask promises freedom but brings compulsion. These horrors and more await you in "Gonzombie and Other Dark Tales." The stories harken to the writings of H. P. Lovecraft and Max Brooks, with surreal allusions to Hunter Thompson and Lewis Carroll. The writing of Nick Roberts is just as compelling, disturbing, and explicit as his paintings under the name of Master Nick. His dark fantasy art has been featured in public galleries and exclusive clubs from San Francisco to Detroit. Now he provides beautiful and bizarre cover art for this twisted title. Edited by Suz deMello, best-selling author of vampire erotica and other fiction, this collection is recommended for mature readers.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is easily one of the most enjoyable zombie books I have ever read. I have read a lot, and without a doubt this is the best. Nick Roberts introduces so many interesting and thought provoking points into a genre that is pretty much completely devoid of such ideas. Sure most zombie tales have the basic over arching message, but this has so much more. Without spoiling it would be almost impossible to explain so i will simply say that you should read this book." -Peter Rawlins

From the Author

Where do you get your ideas?
Every creative person hears that question time and again. Even amongst the artists themselves, some say that they don't know the answer. Inspiration is a mystery to many, but if you're curious, I'll show you mine.
First came an appreciation for other artists. I absorbed selections of every media, from Lewis Carroll to H. P. Lovecraft, Peanuts to Lio, Batman to The Sandman, The Beatles to Siouxsie, "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari" to "The City of Lost Children", M. C. Escher to H. R. Giger, and greedily on and on.
Then came Sex, a most beloved muse. (Alas, she's treated roughly here, for this is a collection of horror stories more than a catalogue of consummations.)
Ultimately, Death drives the art to its conclusion. Its cold touch ends many tales of the macabre, and spurs the artist to finish as much work as possible. There are only so many hours in a life.
But the original question was
where.
They all come together in the world of dreams. Here we fight and fuck and fly. Here we know fascination and fear. And here we have the greatest faith in fantasy.

Nick Roberts' writing encompasses stories, scripts and non-fiction articles. He paints horror, fantasy and kink under the name Master Nick. He has worked as an actor, a singer and a puppeteer.

"I've spent years in formal study, mastering an array of artistic skills, and years since working the magic, bringing ethereal vision into tangible form. It is a great pleasure to disturb, amuse and arouse, often all once. These passions are mirrored in the painstaking attention to detail within my work. I am ever driven to portray the primal and the elegant, daydream and nightmare, freedom and dominion, reflecting the friction, mingling, and balance between these extremes. Ever present is life, death and forms which transcend, feeding the flesh, stimulating the mind, and nourishing the spirit through ephemeral beauty and enduring legend. The imagery hearkens to the most dramatic and romantic aesthetics of times gone by, while suggesting stranger stories to come."
