The Gray-Carrington Memorial Scholarship, one of the highest honors at the University of Virginia, supports one student in his or her graduating year. Qualified nominees embody the following characteristics:
Personal Integrity: The inability to tolerate any wrong or sit idly until it is rectified.
Achievement: The will to set goals above those of ordinary men and women and the capacity to meet or exceed them even in the face of overwhelming adversity.
Leadership: The ability to motivate others to perform to the utmost of their abilities.
Humility: The motivation and demeanor that stem not from superiority but from service to others performed in a loving and selfless manner.
