Rally call for Port Angeles.!!
Laurel Lanes Bowling Center is in danger of closing its doors for good.
We survived the summer lockdown...barely. We were only able to open for one month at very limited capacity until this latest lockdown. Which, let's face it, will most likely last longer than four weeks. We won't survive it. Even with the small business loans. We have already seen many other bowling centers have to close their doors for good. I'm asking our community to help prevent that from happening to Laurel Lanes.
One of the things I love about our community is its ability to rally. This town's citizens have answered the call many times to help those in need. Well folks, I'm sending out the call. I'm asking you to rally.
Laurel Lanes has been a staple in our town for over 60 years. It's a place where people of all ages can go and create memories. From birthday parties to league nights to field trips for daycares to office parties....etc. (Let's be real, how many of you have had or been to a birthday party at Laurel Lanes?!). It's a safe place, a happy place, and a place when you walk in, you feel at home. It has meant so much to so many.
But more deeply than that, Laurel Lanes, more specifically Vern Elkhart, has given so much to this community. He's hosted numerous fundraisers, Special Olympics, local mental health organizations and so much more! He has sponsored little league teams for over 20 years, and donated to so many organizations it would be too long to list.
To many of us, Uncle Vern (as he is affectionately known), is himself a staple in this town. A legend, if you will, and no legend should go down like this!
It's time for our community to give something back to Vern and to Laurel Lanes. Who will answer the call?
(I set the goal amount high because we just don't know how long we will be closed.)
