Training Design and Practitioner Skill Development: A Master Class for Training Consultants (and those that want to become one)
(14 hours)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Instructional design is the heart of talent development, and it must progress even as current conditions evolve, challenges become more complicated, and new trends emerge. Instructional design is the practice of creating instructional experiences which “make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing”. The ADDIE model, a systemic instructional design model consists of the following phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Using ADDIE, coupled with strategies and techniques of effective training method and presentation style, provide an approach to performance improvement and talent development that is participant-centered and respond to the application of improved practices in the workplace.
Course Description:
This session explores the use of the ADDIE Instructional Design as a framework for the work of training as a developmental practitioner skillset. Further, participants will explore the use of experiential method to deliver training content that intentionally leads to conscious competence. Because adults learn differently than traditional teaching strategies, this session will discuss how training differs from teaching, and how adults learn. This learning experience is designed to build the skills and ability of participants in designing effective training programs, tailored for adult learners, irrespective of their specific subject matter expertise.
Learning Objectives:
Through didactic method, discussion, structured reflection, discussion, and practical exercises, professional coaches will improve their proficiency in the content and process roles of training. As a professional activity, this Master Class is shaped by the following specific learning objectives:
