Join Turtleback Conservation Center and the Mattituck Park District in restoring Bailie Beach this Sunday, March 30 at noon at Balie Beach. We will be repairing the dune and installing protective snowfencing (along with signage), maintaining the creek trail, installing shorebird fencing, removing firepit and marine debris, and raising another Osprey platform. Though that may sound like work, we promise this occasion will be fun for the whole family.

On Planting Day, volunteers will push aside woodchips, use a shovel to dig a hole, take a plant out of a container, cut its bound roots, place it in the hole, and put the dirt and chips back. We need to do this over 1,600 times. Luckily the plants (and therefore the holes) are small, and the ground is soft because the rain has come. Nonetheless, we need a lot of volunteers.

Every adult participating must submit their own signup for themselves and their participating children. Please indicate if you can bring a shovel, workgloves, and a cultivator or similiar tool for the roots.

We are inviting food trucks. The MPD will provide water. Volunteers will be asked to check in when they arrive.

VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT

As a volunteer, I release and hold harmless the Mattituck Park District and their successors from any and all claims, costs, suits, actions, judgments or expenses upon any damage, loss or injury to me or to minor children accompanying me or to my property, which may arise from this volunteer event.

I acknowledge that I am fully aware of any and all risks posed by these volunteer activities and that I and any minor children accompanying me have no medical condition that prevents me or them from engaging in the activities.

I also give permission to be photographed by project partners or the media for use in printed materials, through the internet or through other media outlets.
