Dear Parent/Guardian of Mar Vista Academy 8th graders:
The time has finally come! Your child is just weeks away from the end of their middle school career. Please
take the time to read through this letter carefully as it contains essential information that you will need to
know as Promotion draws near.
PROMOTION ELIGIBILITY:
• In order to walk in the Promotion ceremony and receive a promotion certificate, students need to
PASS (D- or higher) ALL SIX of their Semester 2 classes.
• Students must also have ZERO suspensions or repeated disciplinary infractions after April 25th, 2023.
PROMOTION CEREMONY:
Friday, June 2nd at 1:30pm
Mar Vista High School’s Myron Smull Stadium
• All 8th graders and their guests should report at 12:30pm, 60 minutes prior to the ceremony.
o Be sure to plan for traffic, parking, and walking.
• Gates will CLOSE to ALL GUESTS approximately at 1:20pm, 10 minutes before the start of the
ceremony.
o If you come later than that, you may not be granted access and may miss the ceremony.
• The promotion ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes from start to finish.
• Once the ceremony is over, all promoters will exit the field the same way they entered, and meet
their families in the parking lot.
• We do not allow guests on the field at any time before, during, or after the ceremony.
GUESTS & SEATING:
• Each 8TH grader is allowed to bring SIX GUESTS and everyone MUST enter the gate together at the
same time as the student.
o Please note: EVERY HUMAN COUNTS AS A “GUEST” REGARDLESS OF AGE. NO Guest will be
allowed to enter without a promoting 8th grader. No exceptions.
• The CHECK-IN for the ceremony will begin ONE HOUR and FIFTEEN MINUTES prior to the
ceremony (12:15PM)
• All guest seating will be in the home bleachers (west side) and will be issued on a first come, first
served basis.
• All guests must be seated the entire ceremony.
PARKING:
• ENTRANCE to the STADIUM: 524 Imperial Beach Blvd., IB, CA 91932
• Parking is limited to street parking.
o There will be NO ACCESS to the stadium from ELM AVE.
o There will be NO ACCESS through the main campus of our school.

o Please DO NOT PARK on the North side of campus. You will NOT be granted access through
campus.
• Handicap parking is available, but limited...arrive early.
o You must have a valid, official handicap placard in order to park in a handicap parking spot.
• To reduce traffic, we encourage all guests and their graduate to arrive together in one car, if possible.
PROHIBITED ITEMS AT PROMOTION CEREMONY:
• The following items are prohibited from bringing in to the stadium by students and their guests:
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR 8TH GRADERS:
• Heels or stilettos will be allowed, but are not recommended on the field; wedge shoes or flats are
recommended.
• Dress appropriately for the ceremony.
• 8th graders will be searched prior to the ceremony.
o Do not bring a phone, camera, purse, or any items you have to hold.
o All prohibited items will be confiscated and not be returned until the very end of the
ceremony, once all guests and graduates have exited the campus.
• Promotion leis or unapproved sashes/stoles cannot be worn during the ceremony.
o Parents can hold them and distribute to the child after the ceremony.

¡Por fin ha llegado el momento! Su hijo está a solo unas semanas del final de su carrera como estudiante de
secundaria. Tómese el tiempo para leer detenidamente esta carta, ya que contiene información esencial que
necesitará saber a medida que se acerque la Promoción. Comuníquese con nosotros si tiene alguna

ELEGIBILIDAD PARA LA PROMOCIÓN:
• Para participar en la ceremonia de Promoción y recibir un certificado de promoción, los estudiantes deben
APROBAR (D- o superior) TODAS LAS SEIS clases del 2do. Semestre.
• Los estudiantes también deben tener CERO suspensiones o repetidas faltas a las normas disciplinarias
después del 25 de abril de 2023.
CEREMONIA DE PROMOCIÓN:
• Todos los estudiantes de 8o grado y sus invitados deben presentarse a las 12:30 p. m., 60 minutos
antes de la ceremonia.
o Asegúrese de tomar en cuenta el tráfico, el estacionamiento y las distancias.
• Las puertas se CERRARAN para TODOS LOS INVITADOS aproximadamente a la 1:20 pm, 10
minutos antes del inicio de la ceremonia.
o Si llega más tarde, no se le concederá el acceso y se perderá la ceremonia.
• La ceremonia de promoción tendrá una duración aproximada de 60 minutos de principio a fin.
• Una vez terminada la ceremonia, todos los Promovidos saldrán del campo de la misma manera que
entraron y se reunirán con sus familias en el estacionamiento.
• No permitimos invitados en el campo en ningún momento- antes, durante o después de la
ceremonia.
INVITADOS Y ASIENTOS:
• Cada estudiante de 8o grado puede traer SEIS INVITADOS y todos DEBEN entrar por la puerta juntos
al mismo tiempo que el estudiante.
o Tenga en cuenta: TODO SER HUMANO CUENTA COMO "INVITADO", SIN IMPORTAR LA
EDAD. NINGÚN invitado podrá ingresar sin un alumno de octavo grado que se está
promoviendo. Sin excepciones.
• La ENTRADA (check-in) para la ceremonia comenzará UNA HORA y QUINCE MINUTOS antes de la
ceremonia (12:15PM)
• Todos los asientos para invitados estarán en las gradas de la casa (lado oeste) y se asignarán por
orden de llegada.
• Todos los invitados deben estar sentados durante toda la ceremonia.

ESTACIONAMIENTO:
• ENTRADA al ESTADIO: 524 Imperial Beach Blvd., IB, CA 91932
• El estacionamiento será únicamente en la calle
o NO habrá ACCESO al estadio desde ELM AVE.
o NO habrá ACCESO a través del plantel principal de Mar Vista High.
o NO ESTACIONARSE en el lado norte del campus. NO se le otorgará acceso a través del plantel.
• El estacionamiento para discapacitados está disponible, pero es limitado... llegue temprano.
• Debe tener una placa oficial válida para discapacitados para estacionar en un lugar de
estacionamiento para discapacitados.
• Para reducir el tráfico, si es posible, les sugerimos a todos los invitados y sus graduados a llegar
juntos en un solo automóvil.
ARTÍCULOS PROHIBIDOS EN LA CEREMONIA DE PROMOCIÓN:
• Se prohibe traer al estadio los siguientes artículos, tanto por parte de los estudiantes como de sus
invitados:
RECORDATORIOS IMPORTANTES PARA LOS ESTUDIANTES DE 8o GRADO:
• Se permitirán tacones o tacones de aguja, pero no se recomiendan en el campo; Se recomiendan
zapatos de cuña o planos.
• Vístase apropiadamente para la ceremonia.
• Los estudiantes de 8vo grado serán registrados antes de la ceremonia.
o No traiga un teléfono, cámara, bolso o cualquier artículo que tenga que sostener.
o Todos los artículos prohibidos serán confiscados y no serán devueltos hasta el final de la
ceremonia, una vez que todos los invitados y graduados hayan salido del campus.
• Durante la ceremonia no se pueden usar guirnaldas de promoción ni fajas/estolas no
aprobadas.
o Los padres pueden sostenerlos y distribuirlos al niño después de la ceremonia.
