About the Author

Sora Vernikoff started her career as a school teacher in Brooklyn over 20 years ago. She taught the 1st grade, the 2nd grade and the 4th grade to the most challenging kids imaginable in an extremely difficult inner city urban environment.  
While Sora was learning to manage these very difficult kids she also struggled with her weight. She'd diet, do everything the diet asked - even kept a food diary - only to find herself regaining the weight after she'd lost it.Sora couldn't understand why she'd always regain it.  
Then one day while Sora was in front of her fourth grade class she asked herself,
Why can I manage these 35 kids who walk, talk and throw chairs but food which has no animate qualities I can't stop thinking about and I can't keep out of my mouth? After asking herself that question, Sora also wondered, What would happen if I could vacuum out all the extra times a day that I thought about food? If I could do that then what would I see, how would that possibly change my life and then could I help others do the same? 
Sora decided to stop dieting and journal every one of her eating experiences to get to the heart of the matter! As a result, Sora lost 25 pounds which she's kept off to this day. It was after Sora reached her non-dieted weight loss that she decided she would
 transfer her classroom management skills to food-thought management skills & create a program that would help other dieters. In 1992, Sora began teaching Sora's Weight Loss Management Program. a no-diet, food thought management program which teaches you to eat what you want, stop when you want to become forever thin and healthy without dieting. Sora has taught her program to her private clients, at The Learning Annex and at the office of a leading New York endocrinologist. 
Sora has also spoken at Lennox Hill Hospital and has been on radio and national television.Presently, Sora is happily teaching her no-diet food-thought management program to other fed up dieters both on and off-line!

Sora Vernikoff, author of Eat What You Want! Stop When You Want! started her professional career as a school teacher in East New York, Brooklyn over 20 years ago. She taught the first grade, the second grade and the fourth grade to the most challenging kids imaginable in extremely difficult type of inner city urban school environments.

She was tempted to quit teaching her first year but decided that she had studied to be a teacher and that she was going to find a way, however difficult, to keep these very challenging kids in their seats learning.

It took Sora about five years to get it. What she came to realize was that regardless of what was going on in front of her that she was the one that had to learn to control herself so that her students could learn by example. So it was that “ah, ha moment” in addition to tons of letter writing, phone calls and reward charts that let Sora manage the rest of her teaching career.

Now at the same time that Sora was learning to manage these very difficult kids she also struggled with her weight. She’d diet, do everything the diet asked (even kept a food diary) only to find herself regaining the weight after she’d lost it.

Sora couldn’t understand, why if she followed all the “rules” of the diet and lost the weight, that she’d always regain it.

    In an ideal world we would be able to eat all our favorite foods as often as we liked and never gain a pound. Wait! That is what this author is saying you can do. But how? This is a program that allows you to eat what you want and stop when you want but there are a few rules. This program involves some unique behavior modification techniques the author discovered herself over her lifetime of experience.

    This book makes it all so clear as Sora Vernikoff understands the basic struggles involved with eating issues. Her book gives you rules to follow so you have guidelines and can make all your own choices. This book also includes letters from happy clients who have used the system and have finally found success. There are also some questions and answers to give you more information on the program. At the end there is a glossary and index. So a very helpful book with a lot of unique ideas.

    I've never been accused of being overweight; still there are times that my waist has expanded a bit and I feel as if I'll never get back to my svelte self. In Eat What You Want! Stop When You Want! the author offers something that seems so obvious, you wonder why more authors haven't taken this approach before her. She actually offers guidance on the mental, emotional, and physical mechanics of controlling what you eat, when you eat, and how much you eat, including hands on tools and techniques, and as well as exercises to put her guidance into practice. The book is innovative, short, and to the point... designed for today's busy readers (thank goodness!).

    I have known Sora professionally for over 30 years and she has never changed an ounce. I'm so thrilled that

    she had now published a book with her secrets to maintain your weight without ever dieting! Her insight into

    human nature and why people have a propensity to gain weight and yo-yo is brilliant. Her program is beneficial

    to anyone who has a weight problem but can't stand the thought of dieting. You have nothing to lose other

    than the excess pounds that you would like to shed. I highly recommend "Eat What You Want, Stop When You

    Want! A No-Diet, Weight-Loss Program. It’s both informative and an easy way to help you attain your reach

    your “peaceful” weight-loss goal.

    Just finished reading this book, and so far I'm really liking what Sora has to say. She literally means what she says in the title. But of course there's some basic understandings you need to follow. It's SIMPLE, though likely not easy sometimes. Though with the binge foods, it IS easier than most! You just have to do it... or not. But if you're tired of the struggle of diets, this method will feel like a fresh breeze. I'm recommending this to all my friends with diet struggles. Thank you Sora!
