Science Museum Oklahoma is seeking an outgoing educator to provide rich, interactive educational experiences for children and families all around Oklahoma.

Position Title: Oklahoma Museum Network Educator
Reports To: Director, Oklahoma Museum Network
FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Summary: The Network Educator (NE) is a multifaceted position responsible for educational programming, research, support, and outreach for the Oklahoma Museum Network, the outreach department of Science Museum Oklahoma. An NE’s primary responsibility is traveling with the Science Matters Mobile Museum bringing high-energy, hands-on science experiences to children across the state. Additional responsibilities can include curriculum development, workshop presentation, exhibit maintenance, and other duties that support the Oklahoma Museum Network in bringing discovery education experiences to children, families and teachers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Travel at least three or four out of five days of the work week, including overnights, with the Science Matters Mobile Museum
• Responsible for driving the 40-foot Science Matters Mobile Museum, performing set-up, cleaning and tear-down
• Developing, teaching and facilitating high energy, interactive and hands-on educational programs for children of all ages
• Responsible for scheduling, arranging travel, and record keeping
• Performing outreach programs which can include large-scale science demonstrations, teacher workshops, and in-class activities
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on science exhibits and seeing to the maintenance of the outreach vehicle(s)
• Embrace inquiry learning and share these experiences with children and teachers
• Keep detailed records and maintain expense reports as expenses are paid while traveling
• Professionally represent the Oklahoma Museum Network and its mission, maintain good hygiene and clean appearance

Requirements:
• Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B
• Mandatory travel, including overnight stays
• Demonstrated success with working with children’s programming
• Be able to perform exciting and fun demonstrations in front of audiences of all sizes
• Have excellent writing and editing skills, with very good grammar
• Have theatrical ability, must not be afraid to be silly and crazy in front of kids and adults
• Be able to communicate effectively and clearly with employees and our customers
• Be able to lift/roll at least 65 lbs
• Be able to work outdoors in the varied Oklahoma climate extremes from cold to hot
• Computer literate, must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, social media, and know how to work with digital pictures; programming skills a big plus
• Be an independent worker, able to identify jobs that need to be done, and do them with little direction, but also adapt to working cooperatively with co-workers
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Candidates will be tested on creativity, driving ability, and physical skills as part of the interview process.
