Stamp collecting is a very visual hobby - members are strongly encouraged to add captioned images to all posts, and now this is easy with Stampboards hosting its own images.
Since our major tech update on June 1st 2020, you can add images here directly - from your phone or laptop or tablet etc -
Maximum Size possible is now 1024 pixels, a big 15% increase from the maximum on the old software.
Load ONLY the common .jpeg images that come up clear and sharp here - do NOT load massive 5 Megabyte .TIFF or .PNG format files, as some pests do - my hosting bill will be a million $'s a year if all did that.
Please do NOT add images via third party image hosting sites like IMGUR, photobucket, ImageShack, IMGBOX etc anymore, or from your own website, or an eBay or auction listing or news website or blog etc. All of these can and do vanish over time, thus wrecking threads. Any such images posted need to be manually converted by Volunteer Moderators, which is hugely time-consuming. Do it, and you waste our time and we do NOT like that.
Maximum FIVE images per post please (except in the For Sale Forum) and do NUMBER each one, if seeking advice or comments etc. Just common sense really.
How to instantly add Images off your device to stampboards -
Click on New Topic or Post Reply to open a posting window.
Click on Attachments tab then Add files box
.
Clicking on Add files will take you to the images files on your device.
Select the image/images you require then click Open
.
You will be returned to your posting window with image files displayed at the bottom of the screen.
1 Add a caption in the File comment box
2 then click Place inline - that bit is most important.
3 Press Submit .
Use the "PREVIEW" Button to ensure you get it all correct!
Your image and caption have now been posted to the board
.
If you are loading images directly from an iPhone/android, sometimes images appear fine on the phone, but automatically rotate sideways when loaded to the board. In this case, simply rotate the image sideways (or 90 degrees) in your phone photos, and then save them again - then upload. This generally prevents the annoying auto-rotate. Using our 'PREVIEW' button will show you for sure.
Google ''spidering'' is ESSENTIAL to this board. Use detailed and precise captions in the caption box BEFORE you hit submit - you cannot easily add them later. We ask that EVERY image here have a caption, and the word stamp should be in most of those captions. Seems unnecessary to US, but google spiders cannot see that they are stamps.
AGAIN - Please do NOT add images via third party image hosting sites like IMGUR etc anymore. Any such images need to be manually converted by Volunteer Moderators. You WILL hear from us if you do. We may close your account.
Sadly the new software often JAMS things up. So we created the ADD SPACE button .. use that before you type anything, even words, or before any images, to stop that. It adds white space.
NOTE: Only click it ONCE .. yes two ''ADD SPACE'' html commands appear - that is just quirky coding. i.e. do not hit it TWICE as you will get very LARGE spaces then!
Those savvy members that use the PREVIEW button, will see instantly how that improves your final post! No more ugly jamming up of YOUR posts. DO join their ranks!
Near ALL mages posted here looked better CENTRED -- simply highlight the attachment image code and then hit CENTRE button as shown.
Also, when posting a string of 6 or 8 images, each butts up to one another - pretty ugly, with no definition between them. Using your ENTER key to add space does NOT work.
There is a SUPER simple and fast solution to add a few mm of white space between them .. just manually add a full stop as shown here -
Please test your direct image loading skills below! It is much easier than you may think. And always use ''PREVIEW'' button for your first few tries.
