Add later dates, earlier dates, and new time code discoveries etc, WITH Photos. Editors will not list new material UNLESS they have sighted it and hence verified it.

Retail of the book set is $A199 plus post, and a detailed review, with photos is here -

Interesting I see that no mention is made of Altona so I assume that earlier reports of an SC postmark are unsubstantiated and very unlikely to exist if there was no office there!!

The Aldgate 2- index is a new find. Nice -- thanks!

I'll see if I can find that RAP catalogue when I have a free moment. In theory, I know where it is on my shelf.

Just got my These 3 volumes last week, they have been published by the Phil society of SA, they seem well set out, loose leaf style, snap ring binders, OK by me.

Quite a few surprises, it was worth the wait

Re: South Australia stamp cancellations. Updates to SASG Boo

Post by tillotson »

according to the Post Office regulations at the time these had to be changed after each mail collection for the day and written up as such

There appears to have been some flexibility insofar as some offices didn't have any index (obviously offices with only one collection each day wouldn't have one) but others with more than one collection in some cases started without one then went to 1 then 2 etc whereas others appeared to start at 1 from the start) In the Northern Territory they used to put the century in this position ie 18 or 19)

I'm sure some of the experts can explain more fully and of course there are many errors etc etc

cheers

A query if I may regarding Adelaide under Telegraph Office you show seven strikes that don't mention Telegraph four of which are archival but the other three have no scarcity rating - I assume them to be pretty hard to find so how many R's

Hi

Because there were only 2 or 3 types known before I don't know what really exists and can't rate them until everyone checks their holdings. They will range from C to 5R.
