Stephanie's doctors have referred her to a nutritional oncologist who has suggested the following for a healthy diet: * substitute whole wheat for white whenever possible (rice, pasta, bread, etc) * as many fruits and vegetables as she wants * lean meats such as white part of chicken, ground turkey, fish/seafood, egg whites; avoid beef * no soda --> instead try bubbly water (even the flavored kind as long as there's no added sugar) * no added sugar --> as much as possible buy foods without added sugar (specifically discussed peanut butter) * beans are a great source of protein * avoid fried foods, instead bake, boil, steam * Suggested snack foods: cut up veggies, pb & celery, carrots, red peppers, handful of nuts, hummus
