Silver Linings fosters must be 20 years old or older. Response times vary due to a number of factors including the quanity of incoming applications. You will receive a response email from silver.linings@aol.com

Welcome! This is the first step in becoming a foster for our organization. A Foster Home is a temporary home for a dog, or other animal, until our organization finds a permanent home. There are many different types of foster homes, which include emergency fosters, short-term, long-term and special needs fosters. You can choose as many or few as you like and you can change these at any time.

To be considered as a foster home for our organization, the following is required:
- You must be at least 20 years old.
- If you rent, you must have consent from your landlord to become a foster.
- All dogs and cats, over 6 months, must be altered unless there are medical reasons for not doing so.
- All dogs in the home must be up to date on Rabies and core vaccinations, healthy for the age of the dog and on a routine flea preventative.
- You will allow a home visit by one of our members or volunteers.
- You have never been charged for, convicted of, found guilty of, or entered a plea of no contest or guilty to, regardless of adjudication, animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment.

During a home visit, we will need to see the areas of the home and yard where an indoor pet will be allowed and also visit with family members and current pets. *Livestock: The following will be checked. Barn and/or any open housing structure, pasture, fencing material, gates, storage area, watering area and feed materials. Distance is a factor in whether or not the required home visit can be completed. Although we do have contacts in many areas, some areas may be difficult for us to locate an approved volunteer to conduct the home visit. We will let you know if we are unable to complete this process due to our inability to find a volunteer to conduct the home visit.

You must also agree to the following conditions:
- Agree to have foster dog wear the proper State required tag on its collar at all times.
- Agree to never allow the foster dog to be off leash when it is outdoors, unless it is in a securely fenced in area.
- Agree to have the foster dog reside in the home, not outside.
- Agree to never allow the foster dog to be left unattended with young children.
- Agree NOT to leave the foster dog outdoors if you are not at home. This includes kennels and runs.
- Agree NOT to allow any foster cat or small animal outdoor, unless discussed beforehand and written specifically into agreement.
- Agree and acknowledge not to hold Silver Lining Services, Inc. liable for vet care arising due to foster error or neglect, and that all damage liabilities, not limited to personal and material, are hereby waived.
- Agree and acknowledge, once approved and active, your name and address will be included on a confidential list of fosters required by the Ohio Department of Agriculture's "Animal Rescues for Dogs".
*Livestock conditions include all applicable above, in addition to keeping all areas free and clear of hazards.

For each inquiry we receive it may take several days to review, submit and correspond with scheduling. Please be patient. In the event we cannot schedule a visit due to distance, we will contact you ASAP. In the event you can no longer provide a foster home, please contact us ASAP to have your name removed from our active list.
