Corroded Sheet Pile (Seawall) Rehabilitation Using SPiRe® FRP System
The Port of West Saint Mary, serving coastal commerce in the Franklin, Louisiana area since 1976, chose QuakeWrap and FRP Construction for rehabilitation to a channel bulkhead (seawall) experiencing serious corrosion. The bulkhead’s original steel sheet piles were suffering from age and deterioration, as were the original timber bumpers that provided protection to the commercial seawall. The patent-protected SPiRe® FRP panel system by QuakeWrap was selected by the port as a long-term repair solution to bring the corrosion of its commercial-level bulkhead to a near halt. Support from QuakeWrap’s engineering department using professional, engineered sealed designs, and QuakeWrap’s ability to customize its impermeable FRP panels based on client requirements was critical to the success of this rehabilitation and site repair for the port.
