Free Student Educational Program
6-Part Special Summer Series

July 13-29, 2020
Every Monday & Wednesday (7PM-8PM ET)

Short span bridges provide vital links in the nation’s infrastructure network. Yet, on average, there are 188 million trips taken across a structurally deficient bridge each day. Congress is currently working on a new multi-year trillion-dollar surface transportation bill which could create new jobs and demand to rebuild our country’s infrastructure. Students with knowledge of innovative solutions to fix our nation’s 56,000+ structurally deficient bridges will be in vital demand.

In response to this impending need for an educated workforce, the University of Wyoming and the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance have created a free 6-part live-lecture educational series to cover the many aspects of designing, fabricating, and constructing steel bridges.

The course will be taught by Dr. Michael Barker, University of Wyoming, who has over 30 years of experience in bridge design and construction.

All students who successfully complete the education series will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University of Wyoming.  Space is limited, so please register immediately to reserve a spot (if space runs out, this series will also be available in the fall).

“The application to real world design is what was most interesting. Coming from an educational background of mostly theory, it is always the most interesting to see how it all comes together in real life!”

— Morgan McDougal, Student, University of Wyoming (graduate of spring 2020 lecture series)

The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) is a group of bridge and buried soil structure industry leaders who have joined together to provide educational information on the design and construction of short span steel bridges in installations up to 140 feet in length.
