Why this petition matters

Started by Hazel Pinner

After an accident that happened around 12:30PM on Leysdown Road, Eastchurch, the police closed the road for collision investigation work till 7:00PM, this left many residents stranded for hours on end due to no other access into the area of Warden Bay and Leysdown. The only other access route is an unmade road which is highly unsuitable for cars, many did try this route with many getting stuck. I feel that this road known as Donkey Hill and other surrounding roads should be tarmacked by the council so that a secondary route is available for future use, as many residents were stuck in there cars without food or water and unable to return home. We understand that it was a serious accident  but there are no alternative routes for residents to return home, which as well could lead to more accidents once the road is clear due to many people being bored, frustrated, thirsty and hungry and rushing to the return home. Is it acceptable to close an only access road into a built up area for this length of time. The road infrastructure should be playing a part in this issue and why does it take so long to complete a accident investigation works, Should the police have arrange for the necessity's provisions of food and water for those residents which were stuck for over 4 hours and unable to return home?
