Music in Our Schools Month at Shen

Virtual Concerts every Friday in March!

March is Music in Our Schools month, and though this year may be different, we are still making music in our schools every day! All month long this page will feature performances from our music ensembles at Shenendehowa. Performances will be posted on Fridays, and older performances can be found by accessing the sidebar at the top of the page.

Week Five- March 31st

featuring the Shen Musical Company, Gowana/Acadia Jazz Band, West Orchestra, 6th Grade Chorus, String Orchestra, and East Percussionists

Shen Musical Company- You're a Good Man Charlie Brown Preview

The Shenendehowa HS Musical Company has put a very unique twist on this year's production.

Gowana/Acadia Jazz Band- Que Pasa, Kielbasa?

The Gowana and Acadia Jazz bands have been meeting only virtually before school this year, but that won't keep from from performing together! Here's their version of Fred Sturm's Que Pasa, Kielbasa? featuring several student soloists.

West Orchestra- Neon Beat

The High School West Orchestra collaborated at school and at home on Doug Spata's "Neon Beat." Students learned audio recording techniques via BandLab and also worked on video editing through the WeVideo platform.

6th Grade Chorus- The Bones

Students in Chorus 6 perform Maren Morris’ 2019 pop hit “The Bones” arranged by Mark Brymer. We meet in four blocks and rehearse at twelve feet in the Gowana Auditorium. Students have been working hard at overcoming the challenges that this year has provided. This song has taught us that whatever challenges may lie ahead, “The house don’t fall when the bones are good!”

East String Orchestra- Over the Rainbow

The 10th Grade String Orchestra recently recorded the song "Over the Rainbow". We hope you join us in looking forward to the pot of gold in the future.

East Percussionists- Battle Royale

Even with so many changes this year, students have still been able to grow musically through our lesson program. Here are senior Brian Weiler and junior Katie Marlow, playing a piece they worked on together in lessons- Battle Royale by Nathan Daughtrey.

Many thanks to the Shen Friends of Music whose donation of cameras made these performances possible!
