The author of some of the greatest prose performances in any language (Lolita; Pale Fire; Speak, Memory) knew that a lecture itself was a performance - a literal act of genius - and he enchanted his assembled lit majors (Thomas Pynchon among them) with wry, rhapsodic, and pretense-puncturing meditations on how to best engage with art - in particular, the art of fiction. Experience a re-creation of one of these classroom encounters, and surrender your mind to the best teacher you never had.
