About the conference

Storage and release of water from seasonal snowcovers and glaciers constitute critical components of the hydrological cycle in many parts of the world, affecting water availability, vegetation patterns, ecosystems, and weather. Measuring, modelling and understanding the processes that control deposition and ablation dynamics of snow provide ample research challenges, especially in complex mountainous terrain. SnowHydro2022 provides an exceptional opportunity to discuss recent advances in all aspects of snow hydrology in a dedicated conference setting, including snow cover processes, distribution dynamics, model development, data assimilation, operational snowmelt forecasting, remote sensing of snow, climate change effects on snow water resources, snow vegetation interactions, and ecohydrology. It is the event to meet your international peers and exchange latest ideas in a focused and informal setting.

Following on from the two previous meetings, SnowHydro2018 in Heidelberg and SnowHydro2020 in Bolzano, SnowHydro2022 was planned to take place in Saint-Martin d'Hères near Grenoble, France. However, due to the pandemic situation, the conference will now be entirely virtual.

We have built a virtual convention center using gather town. This environment will allow you to listen to live online presentations in a large auditorium, to discuss posters with the presenters at their booth, to meet your colleagues for a break-out discussion, or to just to sit down with your peers for an informal chat. Get started by readings our manual which provides you with all necessary information about technical requirements and the functionality of the platform, and includes a map of the convention center.

2021-12-23: As much as we had hoped to meet you all in person at the SnowHydro2022 in Grenoble and enjoy the conference, the side events, and networking in an informal setting, the current covid situation and travel restrictions make this an unreasonable undertaking. We have therefore decided today to convert SnowHydro2022 into an online-only event and focus our attention on finding optimum ways to gather virtually instead. Despite this disappointing situation, we are very much looking forward to the conference as we have an exciting line up of speakers and poster presenters. We will keep you updated, and give you more details about the format of our virtual conference as they become available. Thank you for your understanding!

2021-11-25: Please pre-register at your soonest availability under Registration to provide us with important information for planning the meeting, even if you are unsure about your ability to travel to Grenoble next February. Note that you will be able revise your registration details any time, should your plans change.
