21-22 6-month Umpqua Audubon Society Outreach Coordinator
 
 
 
Serving in Douglas county the Outreach Coordinator will be placed with the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society a 501 (c)(3) non-profit education and conservation organization. To help fulfill our mission, "Connecting people with nature to inspire protection of our natural world”, we want to build program capacity and mobilize volunteers to bring appropriate educational opportunities to people of all ages in Douglas County. Our Outreach Coordinator will expand our educational materials, especially in electronic formats, to engage youth in our community in observing and appreciating our natural world using local and migratory bird species as a focus. (40%) The member will also suggest enhancements to existing activities and designs for new ones to have greater community participation, especially by families. (40%) The member will provide updates, improvements, and enhancements to UVAS existing social media platforms. (10%) United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) engages members in meaningful service to meet critical needs in SW Oregon. UCA projects improve access to community programs in project focus areas of Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Environmental Stewardship. Members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers. Members serve full-time for 11 months, totaling 1,700 hours for the term of service. Our positions have benefits (education award, monthly stipend, training opportunities, etc). Member Duties : · Develop transferable educational materials for use in and with partnering schools and organizations. · Assist in and improve re-occurring UVAS programs and activities. · Develop volunteer recruitment outreach materials. · Assist in volunteer recruitment. · Learn programs and activities of current and past partnering organizations and suggest new synergies. · Develop relationships and synergies with new community partners. · Attend monthly Board of Director meetings to provide updates on AmeriCorps activities and programs · Provide updates, improvements, and enhancements to UVAS existing social media platforms.
