Regardless of their life circumstances, AVID students overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates then their peers, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them.

In 47 states across the U.S., K–16 educators are driving student success through engaging, rigorous, and student-centered learning environments. (AVID.org)

AVID Course Overview

The AVID class is an academic elective course that prepares students for college readiness and success, and it is scheduled during the regular school day as a year-long course. Each week, students receive instruction that utilizes a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum provided by AVID Center, tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities, and academic success skills. In AVID, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to support their academic growth. Additionally, students engage in activities centered around exploring college and career opportunities and their own agency. (www.avid.org)

During this unprecedented time with COVID-19, AVID continues to support students in the virtual and hybrid learning environments. AVID provides the learning supports, strategies and collaboration to allow students to continue to be successful and to close the gaps that may have been formed during school closures caused by COVID 19. We hope to be back and able to engage in all activities in 2021-2022.

This video takes you through the power, impact and benefits of the AVID program.
