What Does ACT Do?

ACT provides evidence based sexual health curriculums to groups of youth in communities in Orleans and Genesee Counties.

  What is ACT?

The ACT Program is funded by the Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) grant through the New York State Department of Health, aimed at decreasing rates of teen pregnancy, STDs, and risk behaviors among youth.  The grant is housed by Community Action of Orleans & Genesee.

ACT's formation and continuation is in response to Orleans and Genesee Counties disproportinately high teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease rates.

ACT has been engaged in youth education since 1985 and is advised by a Community Council.

Through the implementation of evidence-based curriculums to youth, ACT strives to help teens:

  • Delay Initial Sexual Encounter

  • Lower Teen Pregnancies

  • Reduce Sexually Transmitted Diseases/ Infections

  • Make Responsible Decisions

ACT can also provide presentations & information to parents and community members on local statistics, risky behaviors, resources, relationships and family communication.

ACT provides information on accessing teen health care services and where free/ low cost pregnancy/ STD testing is available as well.

ACT is a program of Community Action of Orleans & Genesee, Inc.
