Research Assistant Position in the AlyssanoGroupat Columbia UniversityTheposition:A full-time research assistant / lab manager position is availablestarting Aug-Oct2023with the AlyssanoGroup in the Department of Psychology at Columbia University. The positionisjointly advised by Dr. Mariam Aly (https://www.alylab.org/) and Dr. Christopher Baldassano (https://www.dpmlab.org/). This is a one-year position with the strong expectation of renewal for a second year and the possibility of further renewals. The position entails administrative and research responsibilities and will provide excellent training for individuals who are considering a career in science.Administrative duties•updating IRB protocols•recruiting participants•maintaining participant records•maintaining lab websitesResearch responsibilities•conducting independent research•analyzing data•presenting findings at conferences•writing papersThe science:The AlyssanoGroup investigates the neural mechanisms of prediction during naturalistic perception. Theyuse a multimodal approach incorporating naturalistic stimuli (e.g., movies, virtual reality environments), fMRI, behavioral studies, eye tracking, and computational modeling. This position is funded by a National Institutes of Health research project grant (R01) recently awarded to Dr. Aly and Dr. Baldassano: https://reporter.nih.gov/search/o29Qpba87k-Qc16BGT_1xQ/project-details/10558919The mentors:Drs. Aly and Baldassanohave been collaborators for over five years. They have experience with joint mentorship, they run joint lab meetings, share a lab space, and have written grants and papers together.
