As the Pandemic continues, our need to build youth power grows ever larger. Our partners at Alliance For Girls completed a report in January 2021 that illustrated the worsening inequities during COVID-19 for girls and trans/gender non-conforming (TGNC) youth, especially those that identify as Black and Brown. Increased barriers to basic needs; increased isolation; loss of enrichment; and the loss of specialized services number only a few of the challenges that have destabilized girls and TGNC youth over the past two years. Increased closures of LGBT+ spaces (Over 100 since 2010, according to Spectrum News), and 2021 setting the record for anti-trans lawmaking (Human Rights Campaign) are increasing the gap in infrastructure supporting girls and TGNC youth. Over the past year, Rock Camp has committed to being a resource to the youth we serve through Intergenerational learning environments, physical space, wellness workshops, and inclusivity. Investing more in girls and TGNC youth is the foundation which makes our vision for loud and celebratory empowerment through music possible. We thank YOU - our donors and Rock Camp families - for supporting Bay Area Girls Rock Camp for 14 years. As we enter 2022, our vision is more vital than ever. We are asking each of our amazing donors to come together and amp up the flow of youth empowerment—our goal is to raise $30,000 by December 31, 2021, and we can’t do it without you!
