Why this petition matters

Started by Nicole Weider

If Cosmo is for adults, and not minors; then it should be sold ONLY to adults. I understand they have a right to free speech and to print what they want, however it is a crime to market graphic sex tips to underage kids.

Because it's the #1 best-selling women's magazine, it's easily available to young boys and girls at any age. Through my website, www.projectinspired.com, I have received hundreds of supportive comments and emails from girls as young as 11. They write me letters detailing how they've tried the sexual tips written about in Cosmo, only to get their hearts broken, or worse — getting pregnant or catching an STD.

In the June, 2012 issue alone, here are some of the topics discussed: Orgasm, thrusting, G-Spot, penis, grinds, clitoris, lube, f-ing, animal-style, missionary, rubbing, butt, pelvis, doggie-style, enter me, push deep inside me, stimulation, rub my clit, friction, gyrate, bullet vibrator, turns me on, vagina, finish, foreplay, shallow thrusting, squeeze my PC muscles, nipples, climax, on top, legs wrapped around his waist, lick the sides of my fabric, tongue, swirling his tounge, orgasmic bliss, licks my clitoris, keep his finger in and twirl it around, strokes, tip of his member, hooking up, i put my feet up so their on his shoulders, grind my lower body.

This publication has steadily declined into a full-on pornographic "how to" guide for teens and vulnerable young girls. Every issue dares girls and encourages them to try new sex moves (including anal sex), engage in threesomes, experient with lesbianism, have public sex, watch porn, (with specific URLS listed- October 2011 issue.) and using sex toys such as dildos, shower heads, and vibrating tongue rings to "please your man and stimulate your clitoris."This readily available magazine has become one of the media’s worst influences on girls.

Join me in my fight to get Cosmopolitan sold in a nontransparent plastic bag where it's made available to adults 18 and older and our youth won't be subjected to this vulgar material. Let me reiterate my goal: That no one under the age of 18 sees the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine on newsstands or at their grocery stores, and that no one under 18 can legally buy Cosmopolitan magazine.

I have contacted the Chairman of the FTC, John Leibowitz and received a letter from his office stating they will look into the issue and start an investigation ONLY when they feel it's a 'threat' to society. This means they need more COMPLAINTS — that is, signers of this petition.

I mailed a letter to the Senator of California alerting her of the obscene sexual material in this magazine.

Now, we're going to hit them in the pocketbook. Maybe she'll pay attention to us if her advertisers recognize that it's not very cool to have your ad next to an article urging women to engage in threesomes and anal sex.

Please join me in my fight to get Cosmopolitan put in a nontransparent plastic bag and sold ONLY to those who are 18 and over by signing this petition. Together we can contact the magazine's biggest advertisers and the FTC chairman.

More voices mean faster action to protect our young girls from this obscene magazine!

Sincerely,

Nicole Weider of Project Inspired
