S.D. Bancroft lives near Lansing, Michigan. She writes romantic

suspense/mystery. Her career in writing started at the young age of 11 when she entered her first contest through the Jr. High school she attended. Though she didn't win first prize in the contest, it whetted her appetite for words.

When she's not writing, S.D. loves reading, crocheting, cross-stitching, cooking, gardening, photography, or just spending time relaxing with her family and friends.

She is a member in many online writing groups, and has a special group of women that she connects with for writing sprints frequently. She spent 12 years working as a Firefighter/EMT as well as a 9-1-1 Communications Technician. Two careers which will always hold a special place in her heart, as well as her writing!

    Wow! This peek inside the workings of a fire department and the lives of firefighters rang true to life. Of course there is suspense and there is a great romance to add to the smoldering story, but everything rang true. Very enjoyable tale. I couldn't put it down from the moment I opened it until the last page. Can't wait for the next in the series. Great read!

    I really enjoyed Where There's Smoke! The chemistry between paramedic firefighter Annie and ATF agent Mason was realistic and palpable. I wish there would've been a little more of the smokin' hot love scenes, but even the sexual tension was well written. I'm not used to reading novels where you know who the bad guy is right from the beginnings, but I have to say I thought it added to the dramatic tension that surrounded the pair trying to find the arsonist. I kept wondering exactly the villain was going to do and when. There were a few editing errors that overall didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book, which is really unusual for me, especially when it was a freebie! All in all, I'm looking forward to the next book in the The Heroes of Hammonds Bend series.

    I loved Where There's Smoke: Heroes of Hammond's Bend. The interaction between Annie and Mason is strong as well as hot. I love that while they are attracted to each other immediately, they let the relationship develop although neither is sure where it should go. The emphasis of the story was on the romance but I enjoyed the mystery too. The mystery was not particularly subtle, but there were a couple of reasonable suspects. I will be checking out further books by S.D. Bancroft.

    It took me a while to read this story, even though it appeared realistic, the romance was lacking. Annette the leading lady was always crying. Sorry that got on my nerves considering she's a firefighter. But that is my opinion. There were a few miss spelled words, and wrong grammar used. It could have been better. It wasn't horrible But please don't take my word for it. It appears there are other critics that seemed to like it.
