United States History II College Prep and Honors

Welcome to United States History II. We will spend the 2018 - 2019 school year studying 20th century American History. Our studies will begin with World War I and end with present-day. Our units include the review of World War I, The Roaring 1920's, the Great Depression, World War II, The Cold War, The Modern Civil Rights Era and Contemporary America. Our classroom will engage in the Project Based Learning model. Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and develop skills by working for an extended period of time investigating complex questions and creating public products.

 

 African American Studies

 African American Studies is an elective course that examines social, political, and economic issues of the African American community. This class uses "From Slavery to Freedom" by John Hope Franklin as the class text to exam the African American experience. During the course of the school year, students are asisgned various projects to explore the accomplishments, achievements, trials and tribulations of African Americans.

  

Supplies Needed for Class:

1. A binder or two subject notebook divided into two sections: Notes and Vocabulary

 

2. A folder for various handouts

 

3. Blue or Black Pen

 

Grading Policy:

Homework                 10%

Class Participation      15%

Quizzes                       25%

Tests/Projects             50%

  

Students will receive a daily class participation grade.  Students must arrive to class on time, wearing proper uniform and have their notebook, folder and pen.  If students fail to follow procedures, points will be subtracted from their daily class participation grade.
