On April 30, 2014, Bayaud Enterprises will host the 22nd Annual MacDonald Family Tribute Luncheon, a celebration of community honoring people, businesses and organizations that have advanced our mission and furthered our capacity to provide services and create jobs for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
Tribute awards will be presented to individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of Bayaud Enterprises through their actions and work. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr. Temple Grandin, a prominent author, speaker and professor, will share her personal story of successful employment while living with autism. Dr. Grandin has been the subject of several news and documentary programs, as well as a 2010 movie chronicling her life.
The luncheon honors the late Donald G. MacDonald, a longstanding patron and Bayaud Enterprises volunteer. Mr. MacDonald and his wife, Grace, unknowingly forged new ground when their first child was born with Asperger’s Syndrome. The MacDonalds aspired for something greater and unimaginable for their son, Van, and their devotion and love brought forth astonishing results. Van would later live independent of his parents, obtain two advanced degrees from DU and CU, worked part-time for Bayaud Enterprises, play the piano, and become a published author. Van passed away a year and a half ago, and with his passing, we changed the name of the event to the MacDonald Family Tribute Luncheon to honor the contributions and support of the entire MacDonald Family.
