Join us for the Center for Child Counseling's 2nd Annual Black Ties and French Fries fundraiser to benefit the youngest children in our community impacted by trauma, violence, and abuse.

The Center for Child Counseling has been healing the hearts of the youngest, most vulnerable children in Palm Beach County since 1999. We strive to strengthen and empower children and families through prevention, early intervention, and treatment services that support their social-emotional wellness and growth.

Babies and children under the age of five are abused and placed into foster care at a higher rate than all other ages combined. During the most vulnerable developmental period of life, these young children have experiences that no child should endure. In Palm Beach County, approximately 20% of young children experience trauma...that’s an alarming number of children in our community.

The Center for Child Counseling has developed expertise and programs grounded in research about early brain development that focus on therapeutic healing and support for the most vulnerable children in our community. For a moment, imagine the life of four-year old Shawn*. During his very short life, he has watched his father being arrested, witnessed a fatal shooting on the street outside his home, and his mother suffers from severe depression. As a result, Shawn was acting out...hitting himself and other children in the preschool classroom, putting him at immediate risk for expulsion. He was not off to the best start in life.

Through the Center's Childcare and Community Social-Emotional Wellness (CCSEW) Program located at Shawn’s preschool, a therapist with expertise in early childhood mental health, provided immediate services for Shawn and his caregivers to address the aggressive behaviors. The therapist worked one-on-one with Shawn and his mother to help heal the trauma and the mother-son relationship. Six months into services, Shawn is thriving and is no longer at immediate risk for expulsion. His chances for a brighter future are much better.

Proceeds from Black Ties and French Fries in Wonderland will support the Center for Child Counseling’s prevention and early intervention efforts in local, high-risk childcare centers and the community, where services are easily accessible and provided at no cost to families who face multiple barriers to proper therapeutic care. We believe that investing in the youngest children in our community is an investment in a healthier community and future.
