About the Author

Tom is an ex-BBC television engineer turned author.

In his mid-40s, he wrote a book by accident and, before he knew it, became and author's mentor specialising in clearing writer's blocks and teaching writers how to tap into unlimited creativity.

His writing is aimed at exploring what makes us creative (and what stops it). As a result, his area of research has taken him down the route of researching the esoteric and other worldly as well as cutting edge scientific thinking and research.

His aim is to take the esoteric (the occult, obscure and hidden), to demystify it and make it exoteric (known and understood). He is an engaging speaker and works both 1-2-1 with authors and in group workshop.

Tom comes with a big caveat - people who read his books find all sorts of magic starting to emerge in their lives.

In this new decade, Töm Evans, the author of fiction is emerging, augmented by ambient music inspired by his books.

Blocks is a super book that shows, in a condensed way, how to 'experience' rather than fall foul of writers block. Each chapter enables writers to navigate their way through the challenges that may arise during the writing process.

Tom invites you to engage with an approach that ensures your ideas come into being and then continue to flow into fruition and beyond.

A brilliant and practical mix of straight forward advise with a metaphysical connection. Tom's book is packed with smart and whole-minded direction providing any writer with an enlightened and informative way to proceed.

This book is not just for authors! It's power is in its simplicity and although each of the exercises may seem short, they are incredibly powerful. I'm not writing a book (yet) but write lots of blogs, articles and marketing copy and have found it really useful for both overcoming blocks and tapping into my own inspiration. In fact today I used it to help me write copy and find a title for a new retreat I'm running. It's a fantastic tool for anyone who has to write ...... anything!

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book from the author. I found it to be just what I was searching for, an aide memoire to helping me to find clarity and vision in my day to day business and personal life. A must read for the busy person.

I agree with the person who said: 'If you are a writer of any kind, I would say this is a must-read. An excellent fast-read book explaining a powerful approach to breaking through any blocks.' ~ Tom very kindly signed and donated his books for a newly created library in the slums of Nairobi Kenya ~ I flew out to Nairobi with the UK Ambassador of Slumcode and read 2 of Tom's books: 'Block' & 'Flavours of Thought' I found his work to be inspirational and could not put them down - I had to read them before we donated them causing delay (lol!) and I copied out Tom's brilliant checklist of questions to ask yourself BEFORE you write your book ~ There is a book in all of us and you will do well to read Toms work BEFORE you put pen to paper! Its a fast read, as I said I read both on the journey to Nairobi and am very impressed by Tom's ability to make the esoteric into the exoteric ~ Toms work is a source of inspiration for businesses, authors and creatives THANK YOU Tom x Love & Smiles Rose x '¨¯`' ¸.'¨¯`' ¸.'¨¯`' Tom Evans: Author of Block, Flavours of Thought & The Art and Science of Light Bulb Moments ~ I am Rose Evans (No relation!)

It took me a while after getting this book to read it... and I wish I'd done it sooner! It's jam packed with information and techniques to ensure your 'block' is a thing of the past. Written in a very reader friendly way, I got the impression every bit of advice in it had been tried and tested by Tom himself. And there's no better recommendation than that. A 'must-read' for every writer from beginners to old hands or ones in the middle like me.

When I started reading the book, I had no idea that I wouldn't be able to finish it. I am too busy writing my book! I didn't get very far into the book, when the urge to write overtook my urge to read! Amazing! I would definitely recommend the book to anyone who has ever thought that they might have a book inside them. I found the first few chapters inspiration. Maybe, when I have published my book, I might even finish the rest of it.

A wonderfully clear, concise and readable little book. As a newby author I found it enlightening, practical, very effective and fun. As a coach I was delighted to see a range of familiar brain based approaches and some of the more esoteric methods, with sound rational to support their use, so perfectly applied to the craft of the author. It IS 'exactly what it says on the tin' - an ENLIGHTENED way (in all senses). I did the 'dream exercises last night and woke with a plot completed! Thank you for writing it Tom.

I was frankly very disappointed with this book. Although much of the advice is sound for those in a rut with their writing (go for walks, eat right, use your dreams, meditate) and some of the more esoteric stuff interesting (I look forward to trying out the visualisations which can be accessed online), but the price seems hefty for such a small book (just 130 pages) not especially nicely produced.

Would recommend Nathalie Goldberg Wild Mind and writing Down the Bones and Julia Cameron's The Right to Write and The Artist's Way instead - these titles continue to inspire me and my creative writing students. Also try the first Chapter of Robert Olen Butler's From Where You Dream which delivers the perfect kick in the pants for slackers.
