The Old Testament in Christian Ministry
One-Day Intensive Course
Date: Thursday, 24th September 2015
Timing: 10AM - 6PM
Venue: FES Conference Room
Course Lecturer: Dr Richard Briggs

Course Description:
The Old Testament offers rich resources for Christian ministers today, and arguably we cannot really understand the New Testament without reference to it. The best way to access these resources is through careful and patient attention to specific texts. In this course, we will take four key passages and probe how the Old Testament speaks across the centuries. In many significant ways, the world the Old Testament addresses is exactly the same as our world. There are cultural and historical differences, but when we reach the level of humanity before God: the Old Testament describes the “real world” of divine-human encounter, and speaks as much to us as to any reader down through the centuries. Our chosen texts explore various characterisations of human life, showing how light still shines in the darkness, and the God of the Old Testament is the same God as the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
