Just in the Bronx: Our Voice, Our Choice
Call for proposals and participation - September 22, 2012
The Bronx is home to dozens of farmers markets, hundreds of community gardens and more park space than any other borough, all of which provide residents with multiple opportunities for active living and healthy eating. At the same time, the Bronx has had the worst statistics for decades when it comes to health, environmental, educational and economic indicators. Fortunately, Bronx residents are building upon community assets to develop some of the most innovative and successful programs to improve our health. Schools are growing gardens, youth are advocating for healthy foods in their local bodegas, churches are incorporating health into their ministries and community members are speaking out to their policy makers. It’s time that community members come together with elected officials and community leaders to participate in a day of action to celebrate successes, identify solutions, develop partnerships and create a dialogue to eliminate health injustices in the Bronx.
