- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI'm 63 and am working on my own balance, and I also teach balance as a health coach and Functional Aging Specialist for clients at midlife and beyond. So often, people 40+ realize that their balance is worsening, but they either think nothing can be done (fortunately not true!) or they don't know how to address it besides practicing standing on one foot (helpful but not enough!). This book provides simple, practical and much-needed answers. In a warm, engaging and encouraging manner, the author explains why balance declines and exactly what to do about it, with clear illustrations, plans and a printable guide. She also includes much-needed considerations of habit change and mindset -- without those, even the best information doesn't help us. I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is perfect for my needs.
I love the fact we can download exercises and that the appendix shows what exercises are
best for each part of my day.
I am at an age where my balance is not the best so this book came in time !
The fact that Susie not only is helping us with physical work but that she addresses the mental part as well.
The book goes in the right amount of depth for me with the Powering your Brain chapter and a great step by step
to introduce myself to meditation.
I am enjoying all this book has to offer and it I found it at the time in my life when I need it most.
Excellent book and a great kick start to better aging .
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseFall prevention especially caught my attention, as an 84 year old woman,
it is a very high priority for me. This is a well documented and brilliantly illustrated book. I especially like how the author addresses the reasons for certain stretches and exercises along with the benefits derived from them. I was impressed with the excellent chapter seven on the mind and body connection. This definitely is a book to read, reread and refer to again and again.
Thank you Susie!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was a true inspiration! I have suffered from neck issues, low back pain, and fatigue since my 30s, and have been woefully lacking in motivation to do anything about it. Yet this book reinforced some things I knew and provided refreshing, new reasons and ways to move with more enthusiasm and confidence. I have tried several of the stretches and exercises and am starting to loosen up. The exercises aren't difficult at all! I look forward to putting them and the stretches into daily practice and regaining some flexibility, vim, and vigor!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow! This book couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for me! Now in my 55+ years and just diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my lower back…I need this book! I’m gingerly stepping into these exercises, as I recognize that lack of core strength is a major reason for my back problems.
This book clearly and compellingly describes why balance and core strength are so important as we age. But more importantly, this book will step you through the various exercises and remind you when and where you can incorporate them into your life. (Spoiler alert: you can and should do these anytime/anywhere. And Susie explains exactly when and how so there’s no guesswork needed.)
The exercise descriptions are clear and easy to understand and emulate, and the illustrations demonstrate the movements very well, too.
Best yet, the book comes with a downloadable “cheat sheet” of the exercises…so I’ll be printing that out and keeping it handy…even when traveling!
Susie gives so many compelling real-life examples of how movement improves the lives of seniors, and she tackles not just the physical mechanics, but the mind connections necessary to live a full, rich life…well into our 90s and beyond! Her “MOVE” method places each element of stability, balance, etc. into a framework of value for our lives and reminds us to feel Empowered even with just small steps toward achieving our movement goals.
I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone who has a body (yes, everyone) and wants to maintain their best life through simple movement (the MOVE method)!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseMy wife and I are in our 70s, and we have tried to remain active through our adult lives. This book intrigued us and not only gave us some great exercise tips but also explained the science behind it all. I’d recommend this to any Senior who wants to stay healthy throughout his or her life.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI needed to read this book, because I just had back surgery recently. The information I read was invaluable, as it taught me how to properly carry myself so I would be able to recover my flexibility and strength. I've spent many years unable to move without pain, and now that I can move I want to do it correctly, with balance, so I can stay healthy into my very old age.
